A Brief History

In 1979 the then Pranth Pracharak of Rastreeya Swayamsevak Sang K Bhaskar Rao, deputed one of his senior collegues A.V. Bhaskarji to initiative Vidyabharati work in Kerala consequently, a state samithi was constituted under the presidentship of eminent scholar and writer Prof. N.I. Narayanan. The samithi was registered under Travancore – cochi society act in the name of “Bharatheeya Vidyanikethan”.

The primary objectives of the organization was two fold. 1) To start Sisuvatikas in all districts of Kerala and 2) To develop a model educational campus. With these ends in view a two month Sisuvatika Teacher Training was conducted at Thiruvananthapuram and a twentysix acres of land at Kallekkad, Palakkad was registered in the name of Bharatheeya Vidyanikethan, collecting contributions from hundreds of wellwishers. Hundreds of Sisuvatika were started throughout the districts in the initial years itself.

Kallekkad campus is now a well flourished educational complex which include Vyasa Vidyalaya Peedom CBSE Higher Secondary School, Bhaatheeya Vidyanikethan Teach Education college, women’s college and several other educational, culture and spiritual initiatives.
